My Nursing Philosophy

My family has always taught me to always meet life with a compassion, empathy, and optimism. This is what drives me a nurse. Often times, the patients in our care are dealing with more then the surface level issues they are presenting with. I may not be able to truly understand every aspect of a patient in my care, but I can always give my empathy and compassion. I want to be a positive and supportive influence in my patient lives, just as my family has been in mine. I might only get one interaction with a patient, but I want to make it as beneficial for that patient as I can.

My philosophy of nursing is that nursing gives us a special position to truly change an individuals life. Each day I go to work, I have the privilege of entering into my patients care and creating a positive. Nursing is hard, and taxing at times. A nurses effort can go unnoticed and overlooked. However, nurses choose this profession, despite all of that, because we are called to make a difference, no matter how small it may be.
